Landon's Lego Initiative Wins Hearts and Rotary Young Citizen of the Year Award
In a heartwarming tale of community spirit and determination, nine-year-old Landon from an underserved area of Bristol has captured the attention of his local community and beyond with his Lego initiative. What started as a small group aimed at getting kids away from screens and fostering creativity has blossomed into a transformative force, thanks to Landon's vision and courage.
Elaine Milne, a new member of the Rotary Club of Bristol Breakfast, was moved to action when she heard about Landon's project. She volunteered to assist the group and was immediately struck by Landon's tenacity in setting up the initiative despite battling social anxiety himself. The group quickly became a sanctuary for children with conditions such as autism and ADHD, promoting a sense of calm and fulfillment that extended to their families.
Recognising Landon's exceptional contributions, Elaine nominated him for the Rotary Young Citizen of the Year Award. Her pride was palpable as Landon walked away with one of the coveted awards on April 29th, 2023, standing tall among other inspiring young individuals.
Elaine expresses her immense joy in being associated with Landon and looks forward to supporting him in his future endeavors. She emphasises the importance of recognising and nurturing the potential in others, highlighting the profound impact it can have on individuals and communities alike.
Landon's story serves as a reminder of the power of giving back and the transformative effect of even the smallest acts of kindness and mentorship. As he continues to inspire those around him, Landon truly proves that age is no barrier to making a difference.
