Dragon Boat Festival 2024: A Roaring Success, Thanks to All!
A Day of Racing, Fun, and Community Spirit
The 2024 Dragon Boat Festival (DBF) was a resounding success, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this day unforgettable. From the tireless team members to the supportive friends and family, your contributions turned DBF 2024 into an enjoyable and memorable event.
Thrilling Competitions and Spirited Winners
The day saw 23 teams competing fiercely, showcasing their rowing prowess in a spirited battle against the clock and each other. The winners and runners-up of the competition were:
- Rolls-Royce – "Rollsy McRoyceface"
- Penny Brohn – "Paddle Power Penny"
- Balfour Beatty – "Hinkley Marine Works BB Marine Tigers"
Each team demonstrated remarkable skills and sportsmanship, adding to the festival's excitement and energy.
Celebrating Creativity: Best Fancy Dress Award
The Best Fancy Dress Award added a creative flair to the event. This year's top prize went to Wards’ “House of Wards” for their impressive barrister costumes, complete with striking silver wigs and black gowns. They were closely followed by Amalgam Modelmaking Ltd’s "Ghostbust-oars," who captivated everyone with their spooky Ghostbusters-themed attire. A special mention goes to all teams for their fantastic efforts in adding color and fun to the festivities.
A Feast for the Senses
The festival was a feast for the senses, featuring live music from The One Love Choir and “Made on the Moon” East Asian performers. The event's culinary highlight was the delectable Hong Kong Street Food by Horace Chung, delighting attendees with authentic and delicious flavours.

Heartfelt Gratitude for a Cause
Without the hard work, enthusiasm, and support of everyone involved, DBF 2024 would not have been possible. On behalf of the club, Penny Brohn, and numerous other good causes that will benefit from the funds raised, we say a big thank you!
As we look back on this year's success, we are filled with pride and gratitude. We can't wait to see you all again next year for another thrilling Dragon Boat Festival!
