Speaker: Melanie Vaxevnavis – The Mazi Project
The MAZI Project was founded in response to the Free School Meal Scandal in January 2021. Following the uproar against the food hampers provided by the government to families in need around the country, founder, Melanie channelled her anger and decided to take action.
They support care leavers, young asylum seekers, youth recovering from homelessness and fleeing domestic violence.
Their mission is to create a city where fresh, nutritious and sustainable food is accessible to all.
Together with Bristol’s independent food sector, local community and partner charities they create an inclusive environment for vulnerable young people to experience the power of food and feel part of Bristol’s thriving community.
They use the dinner table and the notion of breaking bread to help reduce isolation, build confidence and make those in need feel cared for and extraordinary.
